This Vegan Mayonnaise recipe is homemade almond mayonnaise that is an extremely flavorful spread that will mimic classic egg mayonnaise on any sandwich. Easy to make in about 10 minutes.

Homemade Almond Mayonnaise is such a flavorful spread and can be used anytime you're looking for something to mimic mayonnaise.

It is the perfect substitute for any sandwich. Dare I say it is even better? Yes, I dare! This vegan mayonnaise is just so tasty.

Certainly delicious in every way. I also have used it as a spread on sweet bread such as my Walnut Pear Bread.

It is so fun to create common condiments that are rich in nutrients and vitamins with no additives or preservatives. I call this nutrinnaise in my everyday life just love it.

Sometimes bread can be dry and you just want to add something that enhances and doesn't overpower. This spread does the job every time.

It 's a great dip for veggies too! Just that little something extra.

Give this recipe a try and I believe it will stay in your recipe collection for life.

Make sure you use extra virgin olive oil because the mayo would get too solid if you used coconut oil and have it in the fridge. Or if your house is cold.

Extra virgin olive oil seems like a match made in heaven anyway so as far as taste goes it's the perfect ingredient for this spread.

This condiment will keep in the fridge for about a week.

Vegan Mayonnaise made this way doesn't freeze well so if 1 ½ cups at a time is too much mayonnaise for you the ingredients can easily be cut the half.

Homemade almond mayonnaise has a really nice texture too. Almonds don't completely disappear when they are processed in a food processor. They keep some of their fiber.

That adds to the quality of the spread. I like to get it as smooth as possible because to me that is the right spreadable consistency. You'll see.

This is also a great alternative for people who are allergic to cashews. I mean everything doesn't have to be made of cashews. Variety is the spice of life.

Is mayonnaise vegan

Not naturally because there are eggs in mayonnaise but you can see that the ingredients for vegan mayonnaise are just right and they make a wonderful sandwich spread.

  • Raw almonds - is the main base for great tasting spreadable mayonnaise.
  • Fresh lemon juice - adds just a hint of tang for a flavor balance.
  • Mustard powder - compliments the lemon tang but then again don't add too much.
  • Salt and pepper - are necessary spices to complete the taste and the mild flavor complexity so that the spread is versatile.
  • Extra Virgin olive oil - is the added liquid that makes everything creamy, delicious and spreadable.

How to Make Homemade Mayonnaise Egg-Free

  • Soak the almonds for at least 2 hours or let them go overnight. They will bulk up in size. Drain.
  • Place the almonds in a blender (I love Ninja's rows of blades).
  • Add the rest of the lemon juice, mustard powder, salt and pepper.
  • Turn on your blender and blend until it is as smooth as you can get it. Different blenders will do different work because of the amount of power that they have.
  • No matter what your blender, you will get a delicious almond mayonnaise.
  • Now slowly pour in the olive oil through the opening in the lid. I found ½ cup to be perfect but you may add a little more if you would like it thinner.
  • Taste the nutonnaise. See if you would like a little bit more lemon juice. Sometimes I do but not always.

Vegan Mayo Recipe Hints and Tips

  • Use raw almonds so you get the pure clean taste of almonds without any extra salt or possible smoky flavor.
  • If you have a high powered blender then you don't have to soak the almonds. I don't so I soak.
  • It doesn't hurt the almonds to soak a really long time. So if you aren't in a hurry go ahead and soak them for hours and hours.
  • You can even put them in the fridge, in the water, for a couple of days. It certainly isn't necessary but it's okay.
  • Some people like to add a dash of maple syrup. So go for it if you'd like to test it out.
