This fun love potion co*cktail is perfect for Valentine's Day, date night, or Halloween party. Bubbling with pomegranate juice, cranberry juice, vodka, peach schnapps, club soda, and dry ice for an awesome 'bewitching' effect.

I absolutely love this pretty love potion for Valentine's Day but it's also fantastic for Halloween parties as well, a cauldron full of bubbling love potion awaiting guests on your table is exactly what will take your spooky season over the top!

This co*cktail is super easy to make, it's a vodka co*cktail made with pomegranate juice, cranberry juice, a little peach schnapps, and club soda to keep things bubbly after the dry ice has calmed down.

I also have tips on how to make it a mocktail for the little valentine in your life or for those who do not drink alcohol but still want a cool looking drink.

Ingredients

Pomegranate juice.

Cranberry juice co*cktail - The sweetened stuff y'all. If you have never had real cranberry juice, trust me, it isn't worth trying it out now. the 'co*cktail' aspect means that it's cranberry blended with other fruit juices, so it's fruity and sweet.

Vodka - Strawberry vodka is one of my faves to use here since it gives more berry flavor.

Peach schnapps.

Club Soda.

Dry Ice - This will give you the smoky, wispy cloud effect. Very spooky.

Let's Talk about Dry Ice

Dry ice looks like normal ice (albeit it may be giving off wisps), but it's not. It's exceptionally cold chunks of solid carbon dioxide that are dangerous to touch since they are -192 degrees F. You can seriously hurt yourself if you decide to mess with it with your bare hands or try to eat it.

It's used for a lot of different things like fighting fires, shipping frozen food, and making co*cktails.

So why can we put this stuff in a co*cktail? Because dry ice doesn't melt into a liquid state, it turns from solid into gas form and evaporates from there.

This works so well for making 'smoky' or 'spooky' co*cktails, the safe-gas-form bubbles rise up from the solid piece at the bottom. As long as that solid piece of dry ice is at the bottom, and it tends to stay there and freeze itself to your glass, it just bubbles away to nothing after a little while.

Which reminds me: Dry Ice disappears fast, even in the freezer. A home freezer isn't cold enough to keep the carbon dioxide solid.

Instructions

In a co*cktail shaker, add all your juices and alcohol with regular ice.

Give a good shake until nice and cold, then pour into two co*cktail glasses evenly. Top with club soda, then add a small chunk of dry ice to get that amazing smoky effect.

Serve immediately while the dry ice is bubbling away.

This drink works garnish-free thanks to the dry ice, but fresh fruit like pomegranate arils, strawberry hearts, raspberries, maraschino cherries, etc. are perfect to set on a co*cktail pick.

How to Make a Love Potion Drink for a Crowd (Make Ahead Instructions!)

Instead of making just two love potions, why not make your entire guest list fall under your spell?

Mix 2 cups cranberry juice, 3 cups pomegranate juice, 1 cup vodka, and ½ cup peach schnapps together in a pitcher (or food-safe cauldron!). Keep in the fridge until you're about to serve.

To serve it, add club soda until it's topped off of your pitcher or cauldron, then add multiple chunks of dry ice to the co*cktail.

Love Potion Mocktail

Without the vodka and schnapps, this would be a nice non-alcoholic and fun drink for date night or to celebrate with your little valentine.

The older kids (I'm talking 7-12 crowd, I wouldn't serve this to the littles with dry ice since toddlers are accident-prone) absolutely love the wispy 'smoke' and bubbling dry ice.
